I see there is bios version 1603 available now. I'm going to pick up a 4790k to replace my 4770k. So I'll be upgrading using this guide. Thanks!

I don't agree with you guys. I fried my 4670K and bought this board and a 4690K. It wasn't updated for Devils Canyon yet so I used a USB drive with the new BIOS files on it and used the ROG port and button to upgrade from the USB. From what it sounds like you guys are saying, I shouldn't have been able to do that but, it worked out perfectly.

    Hello

Flashing the UEFI as you did works fine if the ME block had already been updated because of a previous UEFI flash. However, as easy as the proper flashing method is it makes no sense not to follow the instructions as stated in this post at the risk of rendering the board unusable with the newer processors.

    Praz,

I've read this entire thread in hopes of finding an answer to my questions without success.

I have a M6E with i7-4770K and the BIOS currently reads:

    BIOS Version: 1402 X64
    Build Date: 01/28/2014
    iROG1 Version: RGEC-Z87-0283
    iROG2 Version: RGE2-Z87-0256
    ME Version: 9.0.30.1482
    South Bridge Stepping: 05/C2

    My questions are:

    1. MUST I remove the CPU before doing the update as described in Post 60?

    2. Since I already have ME Version 9.0.30.1482 can I just do a USB Update to 1603?

I have an i7-4790K inbound, but it hasn't arrived yet and I'd like to be ready but continue with the 4770K until it arrives.

    Hello

If you currently have a 4770K installed the best method of updating the BIOS would be with the BIOS Updater as detailed in the first post of this thread.

Thanks Praz. Thought about that last night as I was falling asleep. At 72, sometimes it takes a while for the light bulb to reach full brightness.

Everything upgraded per Post #1. Also went to the 1603.

Very happy to see that when I set the SATA Mode to RAID, the three RAID0 arrays were present. Thought that I might have to rebuild the arrays and restore from disk images.

4790 arrived tonight. Tomorrow will be a busy day draining the loop and installing the 4790.

Could not have done it without the info in this thread.

hello guys i have no procesor yet in my m6f

i know that probably this question have been asked a 1000 times, but there is so many pages to read and the first page is not applicable in my case.

I want to go for the 4790k, so i know that i need to update the bios, since the last bios is the 1603.

I have make a bios flashback using the 1603 i have downloaded the cap renamed it to m6f and then i have connect the usb to the first usb 2.0 from the left of the motherboard then i pressed the "rog connect for 3 seconds" and i have wait to the blinking led stop flashing, so i guess that installation has been completed ok.

I have no yet procesor to install due to lack of money yet to buy it ¿so i should have any problem?

SO just for testing when it finished, i turned on the pc and about have second turned off by his self and turned on inmediatly, like a "cicling" is showing code 00 as before, so i guess is ok ?

¿but should i have any problem? the procedure i have realize is ok? or i need to install the 1505?
