I have a very simple question: I have a G73JW with i5 M480 and considering Asus support page I can not install more than 4GB of RAM. I was wondering if anyone can clarify why is this like so (as this CPU should support up to 8GB of RAM considering Intel's site) ? Maybe someone has tried and got it to work with 8GB or installing more RAM will damage somehow the laptop hardware ??? :confused:
I didn't see any responses to your question. I have the G73JW with i7 740qm and have upgraded the memory to 32gb using Geil DDR3 1333 (9-9-9-24). I'm about to upgrade the cpu to the i7-940xm, can get them off ebay for about $250.
The i7 740QM also claims 8GB but as posted above that didn't stop people from going to 16GB or more. So it seems like you should be good to go with 8GB at least.
