Alright thanks. I suppose Asus have the same policy like the popular "Nvidia only" brand.

yeah, you can't but help wonder how EVGA make ends meet with such a policy if ASUS can't.

Yes it does technically. But ASUS are reasonable and if you do have an issue that was not caused by human error when fitting the waterblock and you return the card with the original cooler on it is normally not an issue.
Just remember there are ways to check if a card was killed by water leakage causing a short. To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

Even if you do void the warranty, you can still get it fixed. I just purchased a new Asus R9 290x directcu II and could not be happier. The reason for the purchase is that my Sapphire card broke, because I chose too small of a power supply. However Sapphire, says because I changed the cooler, they will not repair it even it I pay. I spoke with Asus and they said no matter how the damage, I'd still be able to get a repair, but I might have to pay. That's good enough for me. Imagine if you were in my situation, void warranty and worse yet no possibility of repair from the manufacturer. That's a tough one to swallow.
