we can talk about the case mod discussions here
Discuss overclocking here

ill flat out say, there are a lot of loop holes if you are strategic enough, you can change the ambiet temp, have a ac blowing in the case, oc in the snow, use alternative materials for your case for weight.(carbon fiber panels, foam, cardboard, paper???? (remember weight may count but so do looks. you have to find the balance!!) BUT, one rule is, whatever is connected to the computer to make it turn on and run must be weighed in. that means all watercooling components, including radiator, psu, fans, HSF, screws, etc etc. (powercable is not factored in)

we must be able to hold on to the sides and not have everything fall apart.

so again, be strategic, there are many loop holes in how cut down weight, but it make affect the style, positive or negative. using paper as the side panels would definitely save a lot of weight, but it could look like :banana::banana::banana:. or who knows, maybe you did some crazy blizzard origami, i dunno be creative.. style is worth 500 points

we want to see this:

NOT this: (if this is your car, I'm sorry for offending you)

but you get what i mean... design has to make sense.

Just trying to get a feel for what would be a good case for comp. anyone got any ideas?? i was thinking acrylic, its light and you can build it anyway you want. anyways i'll try and give this a whirl but never fear i am a newby at oc'ing. as for the hardware i have everything but gpu so i guess i have to spend wizely!!

Yeah, acrylic would be doable unless you want to go custom fiberglass/carbon fiber like craigbru. Since the goal is lightweight I would look around too. If you were creative you could build a case out of cardboard I'd say.

As to the title, I'm short on cash and the only ASUS mobo I've got is in my workstation so I won't be participating. 😞

compete for the asus category!

Personally, i would team up with someone. the perfect combo would be someone that can case mod, and someone that can overclock. invest as a team, work as a team, win as a team

I'll help you out with whatever I can but time might be an issue. My next 2 weekends are pretty solid and in two weeks I've got a 3 day business trip but otherwise I could work with you on the weekday evenings.

As to my actual OC ability, I know stuff from lots of research but from a practical standpoint I've only OC'd 3 or 4 systems so I don't yet have the "Spidey Sense" like V2-V3 or other professional benchers. I do trial and error (not suicide though) overclocking.

Unfortunately I'm supposed to attend a wedding the same weekend as Blizzcon (the groom even plays WoW, go figure) so the live OC part is out for me but I wouldn't mind working on a case.

junkie, be sure to ask in the rampage III sections on oc support. people will gladly teach you. we are also working on a gamer bios profile. maybe you can work off that to get started in the right direction.

Nice thanks!
