Asus G750JH wifi problem used the laptop for 1 day !!

Hello guys I hope someone can help me with this problem I will try to make this as short as possible

Yesterday I bought the G750JH for (3500$) which is really worth the money and I liked everything about the laptop except the wifi which is the main thing in a laptop .

After up boxing the laptop I opened it and tried to connect but I always get connection unavailable for 30 minutes then suddenly it connect for 2 minutes and then disconnected again , this kept happening for almost 3 hours , I tried to change something with the router I don't remember what was it (I think the channel to 11 and the 40 MHz to 20 MHz ) and still had same issue

until I did windows updates ( through Ethernet cable ) and everything worked after that with no disconnects at all so I thought problem solved it was the windows.

But then I had another problem which was really annoying the speed is really low !! My normal downloading speed is 900+ KB and the laptop downloading speed is from 15kb to 30kb !! Some times it goes up to 500 but drops immediately !!

I thought it was a modem problem after reading most of the wifi issues here so I went out and got new modem and still same results (the first modem was D-link and the new one is Belkin )

And just an info we have at home 3 laptops(2toshiba,1 HP) 2 iPads 7 iPhones one iPod and ps3 all are working fine except the laptop .

So can you clarify for me please if I am the only one with this problem or other people also have it and is it a wifi card issue ? Or no ? Because the laptop is really expensive and I would return it and get new one , but I didn't want to rush a judge .

Sorry for the long topic but I had to I was so annoyed by this problem.

xXLeonXx, congrats on your new JH!! I assume you got this outside the US, in another currency, as I paid $2500 for my JH top config originally... $3500 must be in another non-US currency?

You don't give a couple crucial details, and we need those to help, maybe... like what is the model of the Wifi card in the JH? Broadcom, or? Some configs come with the Killer 1202, some with the 802.11ac card.

And, what is the model of the Belkin / Dlink, and what firmware did you update to on the routers - as crucial to update the router firmware as the laptop drivers...

And, speaking of the laptop drivers, make sure to update all the drivers to the current Windows 8.1 versions available on the JM download area - yes JM, not JH - the JH area is out of date, and the JM/JS/JZ are the new products using the same core hardware so you can download the latest driver updates from the JM download area - and the other general areas.

Here is a list of locations to look for the latest drivers in the Asus download areas:

G750 support areas - The JM download area has the latest of all the G750, with JS/JZ next, the G750JW/JX/JH are out of date:

Here are the Asus posted VGA drivers, it's better to get the latest from Nvidia - currently 340.52, except for the JM/JS/JZ owners you probably want to keep using 332.60 to avoid random crashes - as reported by a lot of people.

After you download the latest firmware from the Belkin/Dlink site (don't rely on the in router updates), and update to the latest driver for your JH wifi hardware, give it a try again 🙂

hmscott, thank you so much for your answer am sorry for not giving the full information , and waw that's a big price difference and yes i bought it out side the U.S 🙂

my wifi card model is this one = killer wireless-n 1202 (2.4ghz and 5ghz) there is also these 2 i found them in device manager Microsoft Kernel Debug Network adapter and also qualcomm atheros ar8171/8175 pci-e gigabit ethernet controller ndis 6.30

i really dunno whether its broadcam or something else and i also dunno how to get the configs to you sorry.

Routers :

1st.D-Link model is = DIR-618 no frame-ware update
2nd. which am using now is Belkin = N450 DB Wi-Fi Dual-Band N+ Router - Belkin > which is working much better than the D-Link

thanks for the JM tip just 2 questions should i uninstall the old driver first before installing the new one ? and i still didn't upgrade my windows to windows 8.1 its still windows 8 should i keep windows 8 and update drivers or should i upgrade for windows 8.1 i have stuff installed on hard drive nothing important though .

i really appreciate your help

just quick update : with the N450 the problem seems to be kind of gone the speed is going up normally now ( to the normal and expected speed 900+ KB ) but it keeps dropping suddenly like from 930 to 500 and then to 244 and then to 188 and then it goes up to 766 and so on , so its not stable but at least its better than the first router (D-Link) i hope you guys guide me to the right drivers and tell me if i should upgrade to windows 8.1 .

and am really uncertain whether to upgrade to windows 8.1 or no i have read a lot of topics and still dunno , if this will help the wifi problem i will do it. ( but now it seems fine except the speed drops which is not normal because there is no other device connected to the wifi )

thank you

Hey there, well i had the same issue as you do and posted a thread here, i have a JH too, and the only thing that fixed this for me is installing the newest driver for the Killer Wirless-N card, So please tell us the cards name to give you the proper driver link :).

I understand how frustrating having to deal with this problem, i've gone through the same experience, because before i bought my JH that costed me 2500$, a dell that worked like charme and costs 400$ :D, so just hang tit and hope that the new driver will solve your issue.

Hey FalconFX 🙂 thank you i really feel better now knowing that its not a wifi card problem 🙂 and yea that was really frustrating my toshiba 500$ wifi works better than the Asus no offence 🙂 xD because i can't understand everything seems to be perfect on this laptop Except the most important thing !! and you will never think about a problem like this before buying a laptop with these spec.

and my model is killer wireless-n 1202 (2.4ghz and 5ghz) i was searching for the driver in the Asus support but hmscott said the page of JH is outdated i couldn't find my driver.

thanks you a lot guys in advance

Thats great news that you have the same card as i do cause i fixed it with this driver. Go here : http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=3&m=G750JM&hashedid=hk9WNtlEOFPl0Q7s

And just choose win8.1 (even if you are on win8) and go to Wireless > And download the driver with version number V1.0.37.1274 (Its in the 3rd place)

But before installing this one make sure to uninstall the old one you are using, I hope it will work for you as it did for me :), reply back with the result 😄

And im still on win8 and it works well, im not planning to go win8.1 anytime soon 🙂

FalconFX i really dunno how to thank you enough !! its really working better than before now :)and the speed is also better and it stays more than 600 KB but still getting the drops for some reason like from 800 to 630 (no other devices are connect to wifi) it doesn't stay on the same speed which is fine i guess comparing to how it was before !!

really THANK YOU SO MUCH BRO !! 🙂 well i guess i will not upgrade also 🙂 even though my laptop doesn't have much stuff in it 🙂

and also hmscott thank you so much for the great tips i ll also give these a try now and make sure everything is updated and replay here.

i just hope these random drops are gone 🙂 any ways thank you both guys and Falcon really thank you again.

xXLeonXx, updating the G750 wireless driver usually fixes the problem, as well as updating the router/AP firmware.

Even my new Asus RT-AC68U needed a firmware update out of the box to maintain stable connections => Version 3.0.0.4.374.5656, and there is a newer Version 3.0.0.4.376.1663 now. You have to keep watching the support sites for updates every few weeks, especially new hardware.

I see that the dlink.ir site has the DIR-618 from 2013, with no firmware updates - but now that you have an updated driver on your G750JH you can try the DIR-618 again and see if it works now 🙂

http://www.dlink.ir/en/WirelessRouter/WirelessRouter/DIR_618

There is a newer Qualcomm driver in the WLAN download area, just posted on August 6th, Version V1.1.43.1280

Here are the latest Notebook WLAN drivers => from my post above, with all the locations to check for the latest updates 🙂
http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=WLAN&os=3

The Belkin N450 has a few models / regions, so make sure you update the firmware using the correct one 🙂

From the global site, I didn't see an Iran specific site...
http://www.belkin.com/us/support-search?q=n450%3Arank%3AsupportType%3ASoftware%2C+Drivers+%26+Firmwa...

Have fun! 🙂

Okay guys to sum it all after updating to the one that falconFx gave me everything worked fine the speed is stable now there is no drops any more everything is perfect 🙂

I tried my old D-Link DIR-618 just like hmscott told me and its working Fine also with no drops so i think the driver that FalconFX is working perfect

so it seems that the problem was with Killer Driver .

Now i will install this Version V1.1.43.1280 and also try it on both routers 🙂 and i ll replay back
