G750 JW or JX Linux distro selection (compatibility: Debian, Mint? Mint Deb Edition?)

Hello everyone.

I am new to the forum and this is my first thread and post (thus, correct me if something I do or say is wrong, I beg you)

I intend to acquire a G750 JW or JX next September via Amazon. The plan is to leave the Win8 install on the HDD drive, upgrade it with an SSD and install Linux on said drive.

The question comes to my mind is which Linux distribution would be the most suitable. I am a Debian user and I would rather stay that way, but I've found very little information regarding Debian installs on G750 models, mostly debian derivatives.

Which distros are confirmed to work on said models?
This post in french seems to suggest that someone was able to install Debian on a JW

And I also been able to confirm that Linux Mint would run on said model (JW).

After reading many posts on this forum (which has a superb and enthusiastic community 😉 ) I've seen that some Debian derivatives work flawlessly, but I lack information regarding Debian itself.

¿Could you please confirm me which Linux distributions will work (I can survive without the right click of the touch pad, but not without the wi-fi) on the JW and JX models? ¿Can anyone confirm if Debian worked in any of the G750 series?

Thank you very much for all the information on this forum. I am very glad to find such a cheerful and active group of people united by their interest on tech. I hope to join you all soon enough.

If you search in the mint hardware database,
http://community.linuxmint.com/hardware/search
Enter: Name=G750
Will see that the JW run perfectly with Linux Mint.

Thanks for the replies. I might consider switching to Mint from Debian, although I think I'll try with a LiveUSB to see how Debian behaves. Does nobody have info about it? I am having a hard time finding any input on this OS, which I see strange since it's rather widely used.

I will post back in here if I try it and get results.

Thanks for the input!
