The Maximus VII Formula represents what I’d call the pinnacle of Z97 chipset motherboard design and innovation. It’s just shy of being the best Z97 Express based motherboard possible, but we have yet to see that one designed and sold to the public. I’d still call the Maximus VII Formula one of the best motherboards you can buy. ASUS could have made it just a little bit better by integrating a PLX chip and the sub-zero sense feature. Either of these isn’t a big deal as neither of this is likely to be in high demand even in a motherboard of this caliber. It’s really only a shame these features aren’t here because there isn’t an Extreme variant of the motherboard at this time.
