Need CPU cooler help

Looking to upgrade my CPU cooler and wondering from you guys what do you use? I am running a i7 980x Extreme proc. and Corsair TR3X6G1600C8D Dominator 6 GB 3 x 2. Want to over clock to 4.0 Ghz with no heat issues. The cooler I have now (Thermaltake i1) has 1 bad connection to motherboard so it is not working as good as it should and needs to be replaced.

In a perfect world I would be able to keep using the north bridge fan. I do not care if it covers the first mem slot.

So, What you you use or recommend?

Zalman makes a good cooler, I think it's the 10x something ... I'll check when I get home and let you know. I have it that's how I know it works pretty good I had on my 965 and idle was low 30s and it has push pull 120mm

I know everyone hates on corsair h50, but being an air replacment, I had my
r3e and r2e 4-4.5ghz stable. 975 or 980

i hear the h70 is great. Though I haven't tested it yet. For an easy plug an play. And for the price and looks, that's what I recommend. To me personally heat sinks cover up the beauty of the motherboard, especially the r3e

Was just looking at the h70 on amazon. Looks interesting with pretty good reviews.

You may not get lucky with the Corsair H50. I didn't that's for sure. Though I'm suspect of not mounting it properly. I want an H70 but at the moment, money is in a pinch. From what I hear though. The H50 is a prime piece and has low temps. Average 30-35idle and 55 under load.

Ya well h-50 is a good cooler and I am sure h-70 is gonna be better. I had two h-50s and they worked well

I use OCZ Freeze it cures in like 15 min. Where as a lot of other TC takes like 40hrs or more. Arctic is good but 200hr cure time......lol
