    Asus maximus Formula VII always boots up to the BIOS

    Hello i just bought my new asus maximus Formula VII
    I really love the motherboard and i also bought a intel 4790k haswell

    I just installed it today and i am having trouble the darn thing keeps booting up the BIOS can anyone help?

    It says CPU fan ERROR and i have installed my custom heatsink its a CRYORIG R1 ULTIMATE

    Have you connected the fan to the CPU fan header on the motherboard? There at two on the right side of the cpu. You have to you the one on the top

    You may need to update the bios to the latest version 1104 in order to use that CPU. After updating go into bios and load optimized defaults, reboot and see if you can get into Windows. If you can then reboot and try loading the SMP profile for your memory. I used the push button USB method where you insert the USB drive with renamed BIOS file for this and it worked fine.

    Make sure you are using an SSD that isn't using the older Sandpoint firmware because it's not compatible with this board.

    If you are using the CPU fan header make sure it's a PWM type fan with 4 connections like the stock Intel fan. If it's a three pin fan then use one of the 3 pin headers.

    Wow silly me i put it on the second one XD now it doesn't boot up to bios hehe thank you!

    Think i hav the same issue, so you got past that screen my attach it to CPU fan header? mine i fully WC and have all my fans installed to a fan controller
