As long as you purchase the AHCI version of the SM951 SSD it will work just fine. The NVMe version will not work unless ASUS introduces NVMe support in a future BIOS update.

the above url is where i found it, but i have decided not to pursue it, as NVMe doesn't work on our model yet, and i don't trust asus to get us an updated bios any time soon, or if they did, that it would work properly.
so i just decided to order the 500gb ahci version on amazon. i should have it within the next five days.

i have a related question for those who have done it. what is the easiest, and best way to transfer your current os to a new ssd?
my plan, at the moment, is to install the sm951, do a fresh install of win 10 on it, partition it, and then restore a macrium disk image of my current os. but i am open to better solutions if any of you guys have any.

I thought both are connected internally to the MB to same, so would share the total bandwidth. The reason I'm asking is per SM951 reviews, if the BIOS update 207 supports PCIe 3.0 (Gen3) speed should be around >=2000MB/s (per spec and reviews), if you get only only ~1400MB/s, then I feel the BIOS supports only speed upto 2.0 (Gen2), maybe.

    yes same bay both ssd:S
I just got my 751JT and it does have same way both SATA 3 port and PCIe M.2 in same bay, but, when i use a regular 2.5' SSD, i couldn't insert M.2 ssd on top of it (kind of bumpy above 2.5' ssd). Just wanted to check with you this. Are you using the regular 2.5' ssd in that bay or any special think ssd (i don't know one exists) as i don't want to break my M.2 ssd.

Unless pictures are posted showing how that setup appears, it's hard to say what was done to accomplish a full 2.5" SSD + M.2 SSD setup.

I don't know if you've seen other solutions on this forum, but a common one I'm starting to see is purchasing a Samsung 850 EVO no bigger than 256 GB due to the small form factor of the PCB, removing it from its shell and inserting it directly into the SATA III connector. The size of the 2.5" drive when stripped from its shell will leave the M.2 SSD with breathing room of its own. One user reported that the connection seemed like a solid fit and did not feel the need to modify the M.2 SSD caddy to fasten the stripped 2.5" SSD with screws.

If you don't need a SATA III 2.5" SSD beyond 256 GB then that might be your best bet.

Hello, I think I can share my experience regarding the specific M.2 bracket.
I have got the italian version of G751JY which brings the Sandisk SSD SATA3 128GB.
I bought the M.2 bracket, mounted it on my G751, removed the plastic shell from the Sandisk SSD and mounted it on the SATA3 port. Simple and rock solid since the SSD is very light and short. There is not need to use any screws to fix the SSD SATA3. So I confirm what @Space Paste wrote previously.

I, too, am curious how you managed to purchase an M.2 bracket. A lot of G751 owners who are still fortunate to have the M.2 connector despite not having an M.2 SSD are probably foaming at the mouth to know what your source is.

Did this M.2 bracket somehow come from ASUS, or is it an aftermarket variant? Also, did it include any thermal tape for the M.2 SSD like the stock configurations that come with one do?
