That's weird. The option is in the same place even in the new 1001 BIOS.

I agree, it is very strange,

    Bios version 1001
    Build Date 01-06-2015
    Pch stepping 5/C2

Goes from HD audio controller to

    Asmedia USB 3 controller
    asmedia charger etc

It skipps the pcix8 alltogether, nothing there....

Would my 5820 be causing it not to show up???
I've installed windows 8.1 on the x941 and it seems to be working fine.

On a 5820 that option doesn't show up in the BIOS because it has a lot less lanes available and so the 4th PCIe slot is hard limited anyway. So the option is not needed.

Confused over this M2 setting. Is that only for certain ssd drives? I have a Samsung ssd 840 evo 750, should I set that to M2?

    No.

That option only needs to be changed when running M.2 PCIe SSDs like the Plextor M6e or the Samsung XP941.

    Hello

No it isn't. It is SATA 3 interface. The M.2 socket interface on the R5E is PCIe.

I followed the instructions perfectly for the Samsung XP941 on my Asus Rampage V Extereme. I put Windows 8.1 onto the ISO from Rufus and then onto my USB drive. I changed the one setting in BIOS to M.2 and then did the install of Windows. I selected the UEFI and it began the install. It did the entire install perfectly until the very very end. It rebooted, checked "on devices" and then did another reboot and then the Microsoft symbol for WIndows 8.1 came up and it stopped after one revolution on the circle below the symbol and then I get the Blue Screen of Death. Instead of the very last part where you pick a color theme and sign in. After the Blue Screen of Death it automatically reboots and continues this cycle on and on.
HELP!!!!!! What is wrong here?????? Thanks in advance.

List your complete system specifications please. Also indicate if you've enabled XMP for your RAM.

Does anyone know if the new Samsung XM951 will work without issues in the RVE considering the older XP941 does? Thanks.
