No worries for installing Windows 7 with an M2.
You just use the Microsoft drivers and you do not install the Intel Rapid Storage Technology, right?

No RST compatible with M2 and X99?
I ask because I saw the screen with RST drivers, I believe.
But the M2 was connected to a PCIe slot (with adapter I think)

Even if it is a 512GB, the 4k-64 is much better than the 256GB that I tested

Yep, great guide especially for people working with M.2 for the first time. Hopefully we'll get to see some great new SATA Express based M.2 in the near future.

Using the XP941, it can only go up from here.

    Chino,

Just wanted to thank you for the help figuring this out! I literally had zero issues when installing Win 8.1 PRO for the first time. It was almost too simple. I was wondering how ASUS was going to handle the install part, but just switching the setting in the BIOS is about as straight forward as you can go and worked like a charm. Kudos to you!

    Thanks Again!!!

Hi everyone I did my Samsung Xp941 install the other day and all went well but I'm getting some slow write speed I think. I'm getting 1010 MBPS on the read but only getting 450 MBPS on the write anyone have a idea what is going on with the slow right speeds I have seen post with 800 MBPS on writes on other post here. I have it installed on a X99 rampage V extreme the only thing I noticed when I did the windows 8.1 pro installation is that windows installed the intel Rapid storage drivers, was it suppose to do that? I didn't see an option not to install it. I'm not sure if that is the problem anyway!

    Thanks Bitman

I think I have figured out my own question. LOL I was looking at the specs for the Samsung XP941 128 gig version and it says the write speed is 450 MBPS and the 256gig version has a write speed of 850 MBPs so I guess I'm getting the right write speeds for the 128 version the benchmarks that I was looking at were for the 256 gig SSD so I'm going to get a 256 gig for my next build with the Asus X99 deluxe and will post the benchmarks on here so we can compare 128G versus the 256G versions I really don't understand why the would be different but the spec's on Newegg say they are different will post results in a few weeks Bitman

Thanks Drop4205 I was looking around the flex site and your right you can get the Sammy SSD's cheaper buying them from flex including the shipping then buying from Amazon with free prime shipping which those drives are from RamCity but fulfilled by Amazon. Just a note for everyone's info there was a couple of reviews that were complaining about not getting the right part number (00004 vs 00000) from my research I have found that P/N MZHPU128HCGM-00000 is the base part code. Depending on the region the SSD is sourced from, it may have a final ''bin code" of 0, 3, or 4. Just a FYI

I did have one more question for you Drop4205 when you installed Windows 8.1 pro did you install the Intel RST drivers along with the windows install and is there an option not to install it? I have no knowledge of Raid but I would like to learn how to set-up a Raid 0 array with 2 Sata SSD's on my next build. Is that possible with using the Samsung XP941 as a boot drive and also have the Sata SSD's in Raid 0??

Thanks for your screen, a friend took a "SM951 256GB" and installed Windows 7 and performance are lower than yours (under Windows 8.1, I think)
So M2 perform better with Microsoft Windows 8.1 drivers that Windows 7
