I tried and this has no effect on on the M.2 slot.

I guess the only way to disabled the M.2 solt is to plug a PCIe X8 card in the PCIEx8_4 slot and leave the PCIEx8_4 and M.2 Configuration to Auto in the BIOS.

It would be handy to have a way to disabled the M.2 slot in future bios update if that is possible.

    BIOS differences between R5E & R5E/U3.1

I've just recently acquired a Rampage V Extreme/U3.1, which shipped with BIOS 1601. With amusement, I note that as of today (12/7/15), the latest/most recent BIOS available on the Asus Downloads page for the Rampage V Extreme/U3.1 is 1502. At the same time, the latest/most recent BIOS available on the corresponding Asus Downloads page for the Rampage V Extreme (without the U3.1) is 1701.

Is it okay to upgrade my U3.1 version to the 1701 BIOS that is not listed on its page, but in fact only appears on the older SKU's page? And is this upgrade necessary to enjoy the fully unbridled potential of these Samsung PRO 950 m.2 SSDs?

From revision 1302 and onwards, the BIOS is the same for both motherboards.

    Hello

Is there a setting in the bios for having the M2 slot in GEN3 (as for the PCIe slot) ?
Or what are the conditions for the M2 in GEN3? Strap 100? Other?

I have this with the SM951 NVMe

Link Speed current: 5Gbpps, Max: 10 Gbps
Link Width Current: x4, Max: x4

    46x100 and ram à 3200 C15

    Thanks

EDIT: It's ok, it was just an option in the bios should be left to AUTO, if set according to the Asus advice, M2 slot in GEN 2....

I'm current using two PCIEx with SLI setting. Can I use M2 slot for Windows booting?

    Thank you.

I have now installed an Samsung 950pro 512 gb in my m.2 drive.
But when I connect my other hdd it just goes to bios. Windows does not post, when the m.2 is the only one connected it post to Windows.
    I have 3 other ssd's(that I was going to make a raid0 of) and 1 regular hdd.

    Have an 5960x cpu.

    Any suggestions?

Make sure the Samsung 950 PRO is configured to be the first entry on your boot list.
