Mikkrutel, we haven't heard of anyone swapping screens from the G751 to a G750. We haven't seen the make/model of the IPS screen i the G751 one yet either, so we can't check if it is available as a part on the open market. We also haven't seen a specific enough tear-down of the G751 to see the wiring / socket to see if it is different or compatible. It's way to early yet to say...

Do you have a specific problem with your current screen? Which one is it, the Chi Mei or the AUO?

Have you tried using an ICC Profile to correct the color, or made a custom resolution with a high refresh - like 85hz to 100hz for the Chi Mei or 70hz for the AUO?

Here is a link to a how to using the Asus Splendid raw ICC profiles (don't install Splendid!) taken from the C:\eSupport and downloaded Splendid package unpacked for the ICC profiles specific to your laptop/screen.

ICC for AUO219D <== could be used for any screen supported by Splendid

And there was a user that uploaded their custom ICC profiles for the Chi Mei screen:

Personal Color Profile for the Chi Mei 173HGE
http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?36153-Personal-Color-Profile-for-the-Chi-Mei-173HGE&p=29809...

I have used both methods, and it helped the screen quite a bit 🙂

Maybe someone with a G751 can use hwinfo64 to look at the Monitor section to give us the make/model info for the IPS screen?

And, if you are going to pull apart your G751 to do a repaste, please take a couple of photo's of the monitor cable / socket 🙂

No specs or prices yet, keep checking the links and google for more listings later.

Thanks, I guess I'll wait then. Even with color profiles applied to the screen (AUO) it leaves much to be deserved. I have 2 external monitors but as I'm often on the move, a better screen would be really awesome.

Mikkrutel, did you also uninstall Splendid? I also disable the Nvidia color controls as they can mess up the ICC profile.

I found the correction to be pretty good, at least it is better than uncorrected. You could also get a color calibration unit to make your own profiles that fit your needs. Sometimes Libraries have these type of tools to check out for use, so you don't have to go through the expense of getting one for yourself.

Please be sure and post your AUO color correction profiles if you do end up making them 🙂

Hopefully the details as to whether the motherboard sockets are compatible will come out soon, and individual piece ordering will be available - current MOQ (minimum/multiple order quantity) is 5 - steps of 5 pieces.
