1.35V memory required in G751/G771/G551s (same as G750)

Please note we fit 1.35V memory into the G751s (and G750s). Haswell CPUs require this and using 1.5V memory can sometimes cause problems along the lines of:
> Overheating
> Damage to the CPU IMC (due to the increased potential difference)
> Greater battery use than our stated values.

th3l34sh, it's good to post the actual info, rather than just a link, as those listings change over time. Here is what I found there:

Are you intending on replacing all 4 SODIMM's? If so then yes, those could be ok, but unless someone posts that they have tried these specifically, then it is unknown. I am concerned that the specifications pdf says it has both SPD 1.5v and 1.35v, they don't say which model/configuration has which - you want the 1.35v SPD - as that is what is required by the G751 Haswell CPU.

You need to make sure the SPD of any memory is set to 1.35v, not simply tested as compatible with 1.35v. If the SPD is set to 1.5v then the G751 will run at that voltage, which can damage the CPU.

If you want to add SODIMM's to what your laptop comes with, you want to use CPU-Z to find out what is installed, and buy the same make/model for best compatibility. If you have 4GB SODIMM's that came with the laptop and want to use 8GB's for the 2 open slots, then you can google the make/model of the 4GB's to find the 8GB model in the same family, those are also compatible.

It is a hit or miss situation when mixing brands even if the spec's listed suggest they are compatible. If you check the other thread, many have had problems and after trying something else first and fail, they then check what they have installed and order more of the same and run aok.

The G750 can run higher speed SODIMM's, tested up to 2133mhz, at their full speed, so if you are going to replace all 4 SODIMM's you might as well get a performance boost too. A number of G750 owners reported these work at 2133mhz, you could try them in the G751:

Those won't mix with what comes with the G751, but if you plan on replacing all 4 SODIMM's they are a great choice.

I can't find a spec sheet on the ASU16D3LS1KFG/4G, it is a special build for Asus, but it might be that Kingston you found, if it runs at 1.35v, might be a good fit

hello i'm buying the g751 with 8gb of ram in it and i want to upgrade it so my question is do i buy two 8 gb sticks or one 16 gb? or do i buy 4 sticks? with 4gb in them

also what kind should i buy? should i buy the same that is already in the laptop or buy a new kind of memory modules ?

also please state what the current 8 gb memory is in the laptop as i cant find that info anywhere on the net the one i'm looking at is Asus G751JT-T7036H also u might ask why i'm not buying one with 16 gb? well they only sell 8 gb versions in sweden

The memory in each laptop can be different so it's best to wait until you get it and match exactly what your particular laptop has. I had two G751JT and so far both had Hynix memory HMT41GS6AFR8A-PB 8GB PC3L 12800S x2.

As for the 8GB model I'm not sure if that one comes with 2x4 or 1x8gb. If it's 1x8GB I believe you need a service center to install the 2nd stick in the 2nd dimm slot that isn't user serviceable. If its 2x4GB then both of those will be installed in the un-serviceable area and leave you with 2 slots you can service.

Well, I know nothing about memory, but by reading this thread, I figured out 5 key aspects:

1) It is best to match your stick, by not doing so, you can get incompatibility problems
2) The easyest way is to match your current sticks, find out what it is and buy the exact same.
3) The hard way is to remove your current sticks and buy a replacement. hm scott recommands the following:

4) It has to be 1.35v and 204 pin

I have a G751YJ. Came with 3x8gb Hynix memory modules, 11-11-11-28 1.35V. NewEgg had G.SKILL F3-1600C11S-8GRSL on sale for $55 during Black Friday, back up to $75 now. I just received it and it works fine. Same timing and settings as the others so it fits in just fine. I ran Memtest for a good hour with no errors as well, so it should be compatible if anyone is looking for other compatible memory.
