Hey all,
So I popped in a new Processor today and it booted up quickly at 4.8Ghz with a voltage of 1.39v. Now it wasn't stable past the first 20 minutes of Prime but my temps were 60C tops. My question is that is a lot of volts passing through that CPU. Even at 4.6 the motherboard sets it at 1.3v for stable.
My question is how many volts is too much for these new i7-4790k's? I don't want to kill the lifespan of the CPU, but I don't think heat will be an issue. I did throttle it back to 4.7Ghz with the same voltage, top temp was 56C and i ran Prime95 for 2hours.
I could change the block to 102 and keep the clock at 47 and see how it runs.. Suggestions? What limits should I not push with this chip?
Thanks.
