I have a corsair 1500axi power supply that should be enough. I think my motherboard is the problem. I just realized that 2 way sli only work with the first and second slot. If I disable the middle one like you said I get same issue. 2 way sli don't work with the first and third pcie slot like it's recommended in the manual. It also don't work with the second and third slot.

There's probably a problem with that third pcie slot when sli is activated.

I ordered a new rampage V motherboard on newegg. I'll let you know how it goes when I get it.

I tried each card on air they were all working fine but I did not test them in sli before installing the waterblock shame on me

I tried only one ram kit it did not change anything.
Each pcie slot work correctly by itself with only one card at a time.

I just installed my 3x Asus Strix GTX-980 DCU 2 cards tonight. I've literally just booted into Windows and run a 3Dmark Fire Strike Ultra test..

I'd say that was pretty successful. Obviously running SLI and full screen.

I'm having the same issue with 2 EVGA 980 SC cards. Each one works perfectly on their own, but installed in the proper slots for 2-way SLI and any game that goes into fullscreen just either corrupts or blackscreens/crashes.

I've done all the same steps as the OP and am pulling my hair out trying to identify the problem.

I'm on 0802 Bios and 344.75 Nvidia driver.

    Evga support told me

You could try this driver with a clean install.

It did not change anything for me so I decided to rma all 3 cards. I hope this is gonna work when I get them back

Thanks for that link. A clean driver install of 344.80 actually resolved portions of my game library. Whereas before I couildn't play anything in SLI mode fullscreen - this helped me make some progress. I'll post this in EVGA/Nvidia forums as this looks to be a driver issue.

Update: I changed my PCH settings in the BIOS for all PCIE lanes set to Gen3 vs Auto (default) and I have no problems no with my GTX980 SC in SLI for any games or benches.

    So far so good.

    Solved !!

It look like the problem was a defective card. I Rma all 3 cards because there was no way to tell which one was bad they were all working fine by themselves and in 2 way sli.

I just added all 3 new cards at once, booted into windows and launched 3dmark firestrike no black screen no crash. I tried some games and it worked.
