Sanctrum, it's a cable /daughter card for the Left side USB, for the Right side USB the parts are on the Motherboard - this photo is of the motherboard flipped left to right - upside down with the USB board dangling on a cable:
The cable could also be bad too. If my G751 had this problem with USB, and the known fixes for problems with external drives didn't work, I would RMA my laptop for a fix to the USB daughter card (left side) or the motherboard USB (right side).
https://vip.asus.com <== create a login, register your laptop, file a Technical Inquiry describing the USB problem(s) - what you tried to remediate them, and request an RMA specific to the side with the USB failure.
Please let us know if you do RMA and how it works out

No they are USB 3.0 for most owners its just some of us that have issues with the left side ports and thanks for the pic hmscott I had no idea how they were connected. I just knew that were on a separate board.

For me it's not true. I have one out of four ports that is screwed. ONLY one but i cannot insert any usb 3.0 device. If it is a 2.0 the port works fine. But if i put a 3.0 device the port starts to work and shutdown a few times in a loop.
BIOS 207
Second port on left side

It doesn't have anything to do with BIOS it a power connection of the daughter board to the motherboard. The solution is to use the right hand ports
use the left hand port for USB 2.0 devices
Right angle extension for right hand port http://www.amazon.com/HDE-SuperSpeed...+hand+extender
Pick up a 4 port hub and you'll have 4 good USB 3.0 portsG752VY-DH72 Win 10 Pro

I had another g751jy and the second port on left side connect and quickly disconnect my external usb 3.0 HD with usb alimentation. I sent the notebook and asus change that with another model : SAME PROBLEM .. After with the 207 BIOS I can copy files, the external HD now disconnect rarely.
But the problem still exist

Be sure you have Microsoft drivers installed, not Intel crappy ones...
I had some problems with a radio controlled mouse connected to the 2nd port from top on the left side, when I attached also a USB 3.0 external SSD. This with the Intel drivers (mouse was often unresponsive and "wobbling" as if there was insufficient power). Then Uninstalled and deleted the Intel ones and installed those by MS searching in my computer. The problem seems gone and ports are now reliable (I have BIOS 207).
My supposition is that Intel drivers supply not enough power to optimize power consumption causing this issue.
EDIT: doh.. the problem JUST reappeared at least once.Last edited by hexaae; 05-30-2015 at 01:31 PM.
