Richdog, the other thing to note is that some USB 3.0 chipsets are problematic on the G750, and other laptops with the HM87 motherboards.

I bought newly engineered external cases and USB 3.0 Flsah drives when I got my G750's so the throughput has always been full and never any connection issues.

We only had a problem when upgrading to Windows 8.1 and USB Charger+ messed up USB - when we uninstalled it and waited for an update, then the new Asus Charger+ could be installed and have full USB throughput again. This may not be an issue today, as Charger+ has been fixed for a while, and the version on the G751 should be new.

It is likely the chipset driver, or a compatibility problem with some USB devices. I don't have a G751 handy to test, but I could take my USB devices to test against a G751, when they arrive in my area, supposed to be soon. Hopefully you all will figure it out before then

    Good luck!

Thanks Scott... it is bloody annoying though! For the moment I have my USB mouse receiver back there, but Id really prefer the back ports for all data transfers, otherwise it gets in the way of my mouse. bah.

    I'll keep fiddling...

EDIT - Is it this problem here then? http://www.thinkcomputers.org/usb-3-...rboard-launch/

Richdog, no not with your laptop, you should have the new stepping of the HM87 Southbridge.

My laptop on the other hand, the G750JH, has that old stepping of the controller, but I have never seen the problem. It was a specific issue coming out of sleep mode with certain device controllers used in flash drives and usb devices. I never have seen it, and most other users with the same stepping haven't seen the problem either, it's rare.

You can use CPU-Z's motherboard tab to show what stepping Southbridge controller you have, here you can see the G750JH has Stepping C1

    Which do you have?

Alright fellas, so today I returned my laptop. I'll be picking up the exact same model on Monday (they exchange the "broken" one for the new one). I'll let you know if I still suffer from the same problems, because if I do, chances are that most of these laptops are really poorly built. I hope it will run fine this time, but who knows...

BIOS 205 fixes some issues with USB 3.0 compatibility. That might help here.

Exostenza, that would be awesome, but I can't find a 205 BIOS for the JT or JY, only a 204 BIOS is showing for download. And, the G751JM has a 205 and 206 BIOS but no mention of USB fixes..

What download location / list did you find the 205 BIOS with USB fixes?

As long as the speaker issue is fixed, I don't mind having a single finicky USB port - I'll just avoid it.

3 ports is more than enough for me personally, I just hope it's god enough for others as well.
