So I noticed my G74SX power cord was becoming very loose and the battery mode/AC mode was continually cycling.

I also noticed that the cord/power jack area was getting too hot. I decided to clean out the dust and came across this...


I spoke with Best Buy and they quoted me 450 for a new motherboard and ~150 for a new power jack install. :eek:

Two questions:

1) Does the Asus G74SX motherboard come with a power jack attached?
2) Should I try just replacing the power jack and see if this works first?

My laptop is 3 years old and of course my warranty just ran out in August.. awesome timing!
