So is it a hardware or a software issue in the end ?

my unprofessional opinion is that its software, other wise different driver orientations (ie windows drivers ) wouldnt allow sound on rear speakers to be more prominant

only way to know with any certainty is to get this driver/ui HELOOWW?? Again not being omnipotent in new software formulation and knowing other companies are likely involved how long does it friggin take??

Not to put Marshall on the spot, but this is the best guess we have currently. That was the 14th.... Today is the 21st. Hopefully we'll see a real fix in a week or so.

I have to admit though, I'm a little worried......I have a hard time understanding why they were so far off with the beta driver after a month of working on it. It wasn't even close on my JT. I could barely hear anything out of the back speakers with my ear up to them. Hopefully they get this fixed. I am getting sick of checking on this thread to get my new $1500 laptop working the way it should of out of the box.

Is there any possibility that this defect is a result of a hardware issue?

It's not an excuse but I think initially there was a misunderstanding that speakers were being disabled completely rather than unbalanced. That might explain lost time if they were chasing the wrong issue.

Various testing has shown that all of the components are working, they just aren't working in balance. That should be fixable in a driver.

My Question is does Asus have a G751 with the issue , if they do not have a G751 with the defect then its almost impossible to find a fix weather its software or hardware as it probably can not be duplicated in a G751 without the sound defect issue. 2 people that I know that had the sound issue returned their G751. and if and when Asus does find a fix u will be stuck with that modified driver for ever , u will never be able to use an updated drive as the chances are u will revert back to the audio issue if u do

Reply to Xeromist post below , well since Asus and Realtek are both HQ'D in Taiwan , surely Asus could go down the block and give Realtek a defective G751 with the audio issue Maybe MarshalllR could deliver it.

I don't see why future drivers shouldn't include the fix. The only situation where that might be a problem would be if the fix for ASUS negatively impacts other implementations of the same Realtek chip.

Also, the question is not whether ASUS has a faulty G751, but whether Realtek has one. Realtek is the one that will have to create the fix so I certainly hope they have access to one that they can use for testing.
