Question on upgrading/cloning SSD ... the actually wiring mechanics.

I intent to upgrade my 256 gb SSD, which includes my OS, to a 512 gb SSD (Samsung 850 PRO) that will be delivered in a day or two. I would like to clone my current SSD to the new one. There appears to be a good software cloning suite that Samsung provides for Samsung drives, but I'm just unclear on the mechanics of the wiring? I have seen some mention of SATA-USB cables. Do I need that, or can I just connect the new SSD to the MOBO (Max V Formula) and clone from 1 drive to the other?

Thanks.

You can just connect the new drive to SATA, I've done it while trying to sort out issues with a move(turned out a corrupted program locked out all internet access). The cloning software doesn't care how it's connected, it can be a USB SATA dock or straight SATA.

Thanks for the reply! So, just connect the new drive to the mobo with SATA in standard fashion and let the software run its magic?
