    G751 HDMI Problem

    Hello All,

I am having some very weird issues with mu new G751. When i try connecting it to my AV Receiver ( Denon 4310 ) The laptop detects it, reads it, everything looks perfectly fine except there is no video or audio signal. If i turn off the TV, audio is going via HDMI to the receiver without any problems. If i switch the TV back ON BAM! the sound goes away. When i restart the the laptop with the HDMI attached, i can see the windows logo on the TV but afterwards the image is gone again.

    Any suggestions ?

I am running Windows 8.1 with latest updates, latest GeForce drivers and bios version 205. the cable s ok as well.

I had this same problem on my marantz SR7008. Try another cable, it works. I checked three different HDMI cables but works only one of them.

I have tried already two different. I am using one of the latest versions HDMI 1.4 with Ethernet and 4K capability as well as one which i have for more than five years now... the issue is exactly the same. yesterday I even installed windows 7 hoping that the issue is because of windows 8.1 ... but unfortunately i had no success with windows 7 either. Issue is exactly the same....

Small update, when i plug it in into the TV directly it works like a charm. So there must be some problem when the receiver is in the loop...

Kriss1, I tried searching for it but couldn't find it, there was a post about this similar pass-through issue with a receiver configuration and a G750JW/JX/JH, the last non-Optimus ROG laptops, and as I recall it had to do with the Nvidia setting for Mirrored vs Extended vs independent desktop, try those settings. There was also a post with audio only issues with pass-through and the settings affecting it were in the digital audio section of the Nvidia Control Panel.

Please come back and post the solution when you find it

Hello hmscott, so what have i found until now:

1.This is definitely Nvidia driver problem. Something with having upgraded the HDMI port because of the 4k support. There are traces in their forum. There is a new beta driver coming out 344.80 it is still not official.

    2. Whit that new driver, the problem is not completely solved but still it is better. Now i have normal functionality, with my old HDMI cable, i can even use the new cable HDMI 1.4 directly into the TV ( SONY Bravia 52Z5500 ) and still have normal functionality. Unfortunately my desired configuration ( Laptop using the new cable HDMI 1.4 to AVR and AVR to TV ).still does not work, problem remains the same. Now using 344.80 and the new cable i am getting picture for random short whiles but it has some pretty annoying color issues, like color snow all over the image.

I really hope they will mend it soon.

I have to say it is pretty annoying to have all high-end hardware and instead of enjoying it to be forced to trouble shoot it all day long...

P.S I had a G750 laptop before this one ( GTX 870m GPU ) and i had no issues with it what so ever... the problem is HDMI 2.0 or something...

Kriss1, that is good to hear, at least it is a driver issue that will get resolved, and participating in the Nvidia forums is the right place to solve it. Please do update here when they get it fixed.

It is often the way with cutting edge technology that these early issues come up. That is why for critical work I often stay a rev or two behind with a solution so that the combination is stable.

(Your sig still has the G75 VX listed, but not the G750/G751)
