Please anyone out there help or point me in the right direction. Am I bad or is MB bad. This is the first time I've ever had an issue with a Asus MB

I have a MAXIMUS VII HERO, I use for work and play, for work I use a chromebook and Chrome Remote in to do the heavy lifting. Sometimes I can't log in and for a while I just kept thinking the power was going out or something.

So I realized that when I turn off my monitor "PB278Q" and turn it back on I keep getting a Nvidia Display Driver has crashed but has recovered. (Asus GTX 780).

So it recovered, okay that's fine w/e. Sometimes it would not recover and turning on my monitor would cause the system to restart not fine.

The powersettings are set to

Turn off the Display: NEVER
Put the computer to Sleep:NEVER
Turn off hard disk after: NEVER
Sleep After: NEVER

At first it would seem related to the GPU, I tried it on another MB, z87-pro and it works flawlessly.

I tried uninstalling drivers and did a deep uninstall with "Display Driver Uninstaller"

Even if turn off the monitor for only a few seconds and turn it back on the system seems to hang before either display has recovered or the system reboots.

Upon a clean reboot this is what I am seeing in the Event Viewer.

Do you have this problem using the on board graphics? Out of curiosity why do you turn your monitor off. You can have it turn off automatically in windows under control panel, power options.

i turn off the monitor while i'm at work and chrome remote in to take advantage of the i7 and gpu. this computer alsos hosts plex media server to my tv.
the only time the monitor is on is now, while i'm working or while i'm gaming.

you know whats crazy, i pull out the display port to try onboard graphics and i'm like am i crazy or does this not have a display port for onboard. ok w/e let me plug it back in. when i pluged the DP back in to the GPU no error.

just turned it off and on and there it goes again with that error.

Can you connect via HDMI or DVI? I run a GTX 970 and 3 monitors and a TV. When I turn off any monitors it does not effect any thing. Also what happened when you only used on board video?
