I know this wouldnt be the right forum but It wont let me do a system restore. Its got an "unspecified error."

I figured this would be more simple. Any input as to why the drivers failed to download? or why the 3D stuff is gone?

All you did was to try to install a new video driver and nothing else?

You're talking about a Windows system restore, right? Not an Asus restore?

When you start the System Restore utility, what error do you get, and when?

after it restarts i get this >
    >System restore could not access a file. This is probably because an anitvirus program is running on the computer. Temporarily disable .... and retry syatem restore. An unspecified error occurred during system restore (0x80070005)

I did it again with it in safe mode(instructed my my anitvirus customer service) and it did the same thing but a different error number and it just said could not complete had an unspecified error and nothing else

    Im at a loss.

Any chance you've saved a Windows system image? Unfortunately, Windows Backup & Restore doesn't run by default....you have to actually set it up to run (manually or automatically) to back up your data or system.

Alternately, what happens if you try the clean installation option on the Nvidia installer?

    Hello people,

I use 285.62 driver. I would like to ask if you use any other driver which gives better performance. I use my laptop mostly for gaming, games like, Just Cause 2, Batman Arkham City, Assassin's Creed, GTA IV, The Saboteur and so on.

So if anyone uses his/her laptop for the same purposes I use, then ı would love to love your GPU drivers and performance

    Thanks a lot!

Ok im still not sure what happened, but i rolled back to the previous driver in the device manager which screwed everything up bad nut i tried downlowding 285.64 and that worked lol. So now my 3D is back and everythings peachy.

This is the one it said was for BF3 so I figured since ive tried the other two id give it a try.

Any theories on what happened with the other drivers?

No theories on the drivers.....video is such a basic function that when a driver is messed up, the effects can be pretty pervasive.

It's great that you got the issue resolved. (But just to make sure you've got "insurance" against this kind of headache in the future, make sure that System Restore is functioning normally as well.)
