    i was using the 290 non forceware (from the nvidia site) and i had two random driver crashes while on my desktop i uninstalled and put the force ware 290 version and im crossing my fingers now hope for the best if not i will go back to 268 default i dont want crashes...

    UPDATE: AFTER TRYING 290 285 and like every other one on that page even the asus one im repoting random and not frequent desktop crashes that annoyed the hell out of me because i had to keep unistalling driver after driver FINALLY going back to stock 268 just a warning i got the g74 so HEADS UP.. keeping my fingers crossed no more crashes after running the desktop 3 days stong so WATCH IT i dont THINK ITS WORTH THE UPDATES IF THEY DO THIS OK

    Doesn't it seem like the common thread with all these driver failures is your configuration? I.e., something else in your system...probably some other piece of software (or a combination of programs)....is causing issues regardless of the graphics driver version.

    The "new" ASUS release Nvidia Drivers for notebooks is dated 2011/05/26.

    There's also the "nVidia 285.74 (from Asus site)" listed on the first page of this thread..

    Not quite sure if both of these are the same or different, though.

    well, i've been using 285.79 since i completed my clean install, and i haven't had a problem one. it is powerful, and runs smoothly. i don't even notice any screen flickers or anything. although the key words there, are probably "clean install".

    no its not im safe to say now thank god i can finally stop choking and catch my breath now after a good week no more random crashes im staying here for now 268 the crashes was so not freuqent and i was pissing me pants hoping it stopped and im about 90. safe to say now it started crashing as soon as i updated nothing before that like when i got my new pc i had 268 drivers and then i updated to 290.. and i started crashing i went back 268 and then no more crash i said hey lets try asus drivers and gusss what ? here we go again crashes.... dont happen very often but are annoying and scary i lose my screen and takes 5 secs for them to recover thanks tho

    @clinthill: So are you thinking the issue is finally resolved? A week of stability sounds pretty good.

    I've used nothing but the WHQL driver since it was released, an never had so much as a hiccup out of it. (Like Stavae, this has only been on clean installs.)
