    linux X99 sabertooth pcie error

There are quite a few people having issues with X99 and linux.

I was using the MESA video driver and was getting this message and a crash

radeon 0000:01:00.0: ring 0 stalled for more than 10072msec

    Sep 4 16:49:24 paulf-desktop kernel: [ 8108.924709] radeon 0000:01:00.0: GPU fault detected: 147 0x053a8001
    Sep 4 16:49:24 paulf-desktop kernel: [ 8108.924716] radeon 0000:01:00.0: VM_CONTEXT1_PROTECTION_FAULT_ADDR 0x0C100829
    Sep 4 16:49:24 paulf-desktop kernel: [ 8108.924719] radeon 0000:01:00.0: VM_CONTEXT1_PROTECTION_FAULT_STATUS 0x1A080001

So i switched to the AMD Catalyst driver to see if it would stabilise and started to get this message instead

    Sep 8 21:09:55 paulf-desktop kernel: [ 1190.922090] pcieport 0000:00:02.0: AER: Multiple Uncorrected (Non-Fatal) error received: id=0010
    Sep 8 21:09:55 paulf-desktop kernel: [ 1190.922102] pcieport 0000:00:02.0: PCIe Bus Error: severity=Uncorrected (Non-Fatal), type=Transaction Layer, id=0010(Requester ID)
    Sep 8 21:09:55 paulf-desktop kernel: [ 1190.922106] pcieport 0000:00:02.0: device [8086:2f04] error status/mask=00004000/00000000
    Sep 8 21:09:55 paulf-desktop kernel: [ 1190.922108] pcieport 0000:00:02.0: [14] Completion Timeout (First)
    Sep 8 21:09:55 paulf-desktop kernel: [ 1190.922112] pcieport 0000:00:02.0: broadcast error_detected message

Is ASUS aware of the issue ( as it affects windows users as well ) and is there is BIOS update planned to remedy it ?

In windows this issue manifests as WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (124) .

using the pci=nomsi does not fix this.

tried the latest bios - made no difference.

    Hello

I have not seen any Windows users reporting something similar. If this is an issue at the board level it will be fixed for Windows.

I got desperate and bought a gt970 and started to use the Nvidia Linux driver. Since then not a single crash. Possible that I had a bad R280x or the AMD Linux drivers where just immature.
