Hi there,
just got my Phoebus and could cry... It sounds awsome but you can't set the audio channels? I mean really !?!?!
How should any surround solution work if the games/ movies can only pass stereo in? Dolby Headphone worked fine
for all other Xonars, if you set the channels to 5.1 or 7.1.
Now if i play an ac3 test avi, it all comes from the front. The subwoofer you can't even hear at all!
And as it looks they won't fix it (maybe if a new card will use the same driver) - but I don't think so.
There is however one workaround - Razer Surround Software
http://www.razerzone.com/de-de/surroundWhich adds a virtual device with multiple channels and does the sourrund simulation. The result will be passed to the phoebus.
But it requires to logged into Razer Synapse!
I most likely will still return the card.
In my opinion a lot of the reviews out there failed hard by saying the surround simulation sounds better then the DolbyHeadphone solution.
Just try one ac3 test avi like :
http://www.tfm.ro/win32-projects/test-avi-ac3/You will here the diffrence between Stereo, Xear 3D, Dolby Headphone and Razer Headphone (which in my opinion are the best)
If you don't want to installt anything before hearing try the following youtube video, this has to be watched in Stereo only!
