Serious Issue with 870 not running for games!

    Hey Guys,

I love this laptop, the g751 so i thought i'd join the community here!

    However, one MAJOR ISSUE.

My GPU is not turning on for games, it is only directing to my intel hd 4600. I was wondering why dark souls 2 was only able to play on LOW with not the greatest FPS, im assuming a 870M should be able to handle high for that game, right?! anyways i am very sad about this and feel like my money has been tossed in the trash!

Does anyone have a fix for this?

I mean, when facing my laptop my right fan has never even turned on, i wonder what the problem is!

a few things ive tried havet worked, example:using the nvidea control panel to force HIGH PERFORMANCE GPU, it just reverts back to the intel. Why oh why!!!

Thanks for any help, much appreciated!

    Hi tonyitalia514,

I think you got the G750JS not the G751.
G751 comes with GTX 970m/980m and doesn't have Optimus Tech

Hello, new potential Rog user. I myself share the same concern of the OP on the usability of 860/870 cards. For what its worth, bestbuy sells a g751 (full model numder: G751JM-BHI7T25) with the GTX 860. I have yet to hear anything promising about these particular video cards for their usability on a modern gaming platform. This, in conjuction with lack of user serviceability acces to all four ram ports and proper windows 7 drivers are the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger on it. Obviously I am on budget otherwise I would spring for an upgraded model that circumnavigates all these problems. But I digress.

Thank you for any help concerning OP's and my collective dilemma.

    G751 comes with GTX 970m/980m . . .]
As the previous poster mentioned there is in fact a g751 model out there that comes with the 860m (and a touchscreen!), strange as it may seem.

That price is awful. For $150 dollars more you can get one with a 970m and double the ram(minus the touch screen).

    This. +1

Then only advantageous elements I forsee with the touchscreen is the glossy finish (I have not seen the anti-glare of the other models and have nothing to personally base on in regards to optical clarity,) and making OS 8.1 more dynamic to use.

I just stopped at BB and fondled the touchscreen version. The screen is indeed beautiful, (4k clarity I believe,) and a touchscreen is indeed nice, but I want a powerful gaming/work station for the dime, not a tablet. I belive BB carries it in-store only because of the superficial "wow" factor. But the higher spec'd Rog (for $150 more,) is a deal... if they had it in stock. I can purchase through HIDevo, its close, but not as good of a deal. Once again I digress.

Anybody have inputs on the GTX 860/870? Anything positive? At all? Seems to me thats what you get, and a max of 16gb DIMM expandable (within warranty conditions,) and a lack of PCIe mounts, all for the sake of a touchscreen...
