Are you sure you can't just pop that down again? The pins looks intact to me. And the forums are fairly standard and this forums package is extremely common.

Are the tabs that I've circled in blue plastic, is one or both broken? I fixed a friend's dell Alt key, the tab was on the keyboard side, was metal and broke. ended up replacing the keyboard. Anyways if the tab is broken, I would think you would have to replace the key.

I have a 15" GL551J. It had a stuck ESC key, right out of the box. Luckily, its "loosening up" and not sticking as much, lol

And I agree with you on the forum, kinda disappointing. Like I said I have 15" GL551J and am not sure if "G771, G751, G551 and GX550 Gaming Notebooks" thread is the right place for me?

Dirt, This is a G551 or G771? I have an issue with the KB on my G751 but it seems very stable. I feel that the whole KB board is slightly bent. How is your space bar, mine is sort of flimsy. Image of my "TAB" and "`" keys - https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthrea...uot-key-tilted

DirtSensei, it looks like that key tab/keep aren't clicking together to lock in. That would be the goal, to hold down the key and use a tool to gently but firmly press each of those 2 corners until it clicks in, then hold that corner down and click in the other. A little head of a pin sized dab of superglue would keep it in place - hold it down after clicking in for 60-120 seconds for the glue to set. Be sure to not get glue anywhere else - use a pin / toothpick to apply the dab. If you don't feel comfortable doing it find someone that does needle point and/or works with small objects to sight in and do it for you.

Hi DirtSensei, sorry to jump your thread but have to ask scott help... Thanks

Hi scott, any idea with my issue? Or do I bring this over to Asus CR to fix? - "TAB" and "`" keys. http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread...uot-key-tilted Thanks

Just so you guys know, if you really pay close attention to it, all the keys on the keyboard are slightly bent inwards. It's not a problem, it's supposed to be that way. And the space bar is slightly elevated on the left side, I had a G75, and it was the same way, it's also made on purpose since when you (at least I do) press the space bar when gaming you tend to put more pressure towards the left side, since it's closer to your WASD. That's the space bar, IDK was the logic for all the other keys, maybe grip? (not that anyone would notice any benefit lol).

Hi HulkSmash, I would not contest the keys if they were ergonomically tilted the correct way. For instance if my "TAB" and "`" keys were bent inwards to the right then we have no problem. The current set up lets my ring finger slide left rather than pressing down the "TAB" key. This should also follow with the left shift and left ctrl keys which are highly used during gaming if it was really meant to be "bent inwards" in some form or fashion, of course bent inward on the right side.

Again the image here for reference.

DirtSensei, these things happen, it sucks, but it isn't something that can't be fixed. I was only suggesting a solution that would avoid return / RMA.

If you are happy with the laptop otherwise, it is a minor issue that can be solved without risking getting another laptop with a greater problem, or lose the use of it for a period of time.

Please let us know how you work it out

DirtSensei, you can file a Technical Inquiry here to ask questions and determine if you need to RMA to Asus here:

https://vip.asus.com <== create a login, register your laptop, and file the Technical Inquiry - you can attach a zipfile with photo's to the Technical Inquiry.

There are also a number of other communications paths to Asus:

    http://support.asus.com/contactus.aspx

I know you are upset, but it is what it is, and to solve it requires physical intervention, on your part, the sellers part, or Asus part.

Staying calm and not taking out your frustration on those trying to help will get you the best results.
