I would like to add that this is a cosmetic defect of the shroud, which is really a shame because the cards themselves are functioning wonderfully.

Well, there's more bad news unfortunately. It seems the diffuser panel yellowing is not the only problem.

I removed the LED PCB from the plastic framing so I could inspect further. I was curious if the PCBs had any varying identification information. It turns out the identification markings were identical. I was however able to see that the diffuser panel is not edge lit, but back lit. So by plugging in the PCB to the cards w/o the plastic backing I could see the LED themselves light up.

There are 15 LEDs on top, and 15 LEDs on the bottom. Each row, top and bottom, is made up of 5 clusters. Each cluster having 1 red, 1 green, and 1 blue LED. 5 x 3 = 15. Easy Peasy. So here is how they are laid out.



Now, what I found is that with both cards running at exactly 0% utilization (idle) the LEDs are lit up differently. Let a missing R, G, or B indicate an LED that is not illuminated. Also, lets identify the PCBs as "White PCB" and "Yellow PCB" so we know what is with what.



As you can see, the card ending in 92 does not have the RED LEDS illuminted while the card ending in 91 does. Okay, so let's swap PCBs. Here is the result.



Interestingly enough, the illumination pattern persists with the cards and the PCB does not matter. Okay, so let's look at the BIOS versions on each card.

Card 91 BIOS: 84.04.1F.00.F8
Card 92 BIOS: 84.04.1F.00.F8

Well, same BIOS. That's really not surprising since they have sequential serial numbers.

All info was gathered using ASUS GPU Tweak/GPU-Z

So sadly, the problem is currently 2 fold. Yellowed diffuser panel AND each card not emmiting the same light at idle.

I get my new card tomorrow afternoon, so we'll see what happens with it.
