Good overclock? Also settings to default after reboot

Hello!

I just overclocked my GPU for the very first time! It is an ASUS Strix GTX 970 and I used the ASUS GPU Tweak to do this.

I am simply wondering if these settings are good, or if I should change something. I am new to overclocking.

Also, when I rebooted my PC, the settings were back to default for some reason, and I can't find an option to make my custom settings boot.

I would be very grateful if someone could give me some assistance to a newbie.

Thanks 😮

Hello ASUSpower and welcome

This will tell you how to keep your gpu tweak settings.

That seems to be a nice overclock and you can take it as far as it will go until it crashes, then back it off a notch.

Hey mate, thank you very much!

But honestly.. I don't see any difference in any games sadly, it's like the overclock never happened. I still get around 80-90 FPS on average at BF4, when I have seen a video of 1450MHz and he/she has around 150 FPS, I should at least get 10-20 I guess? I think this is really weird.. 😕

Here are the settings in the EVGA Precision X 16 that you linked. If it helps

Yes everything is applied, even saved as a profile. GPU-Z says that boost is 1442 or something like that. It's like the graphics card isn't using it's fully potential or something, I don't know

There are a lot of factors involved when comparing your settings to someone elses, for instance what screen resolution and what cpu and is it overclocked, game settings, low, medium, high, antialiasing and that sort of thing.

If the core speed is boosting to 1442 that's a nice overclock.

If you're using a frames per second counter, try BF4 at stock settings with your 970, then try it with your overclock. You should see an increase, I would say maybe 5 - 10 frames per second.

Overclocking your cpu will give you an increase in frames per second too.

I will try that, thank you for all your help, you've been very helpful. I will also overclock my CPU to 4,5GHz since I have watercooling. If I remember correctly I can get it to 4,4 in the ASUS BIOS?

sorry I see your 4790k in your parts list.

At stock settings it's 4.0GHz and boosts to 4.4GHz but since you have liquid cooling you can get it to 4.8Ghz - 4.9Ghz.
