Overclock system with samsung xp941/sm951 as boot drive

    Hi,
Does anybody know of a way overclock your cpu without affecting the xp941/sm951?
I got this every time i tried to overclock my 5960x:

    Recovery

Your PC needs to be repaired

The Boot Configuration Data file is missing some required information.

    File: \BCD

    Error code: 0xc0000034

You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer.

Press ESC for UEFI Firmware settings.

I have to use the bcdboot command to rebuild it.

Does this means we can not have any form of overclock with those m2 pcie as boot drive?

You need to boot windows 8.1 CD from USB using a UEFI bootloader to access the m.2 drive (not to be locked). Once had that and was too much of a trouble that I decided to format.

I am using a XP941 (512GiB) as my boot drive, indeed the drive is really sensitive when it comes to overclocking (at least that is my experience).
What I can say however, and this is purely subjective, is that the ssd seems to behave much better if you use stable BCLK dividers such as 100 or 125. If I try to jump to 102 (which isn't that much of an oc you might think) a clean boot is almost impossible for me.

Maybe this is of any use to you.

Also just touching the multiplier and/or VCORE does not (seem to) affect the ssd's stability - at least in my case.

Moving BCLK away form the "strap BCLK freq" affects PCIe frequency. Many PCIe devices don't handle an overclocked PCIe bus well.

    Hello Kenshico
In my opinion guy tray not to mess with the (125) strap just go if possible with (100) strap when OCing. Also don't know how your habits are when OCing but do your self a favor and when OCing disables paging file and the drive cache untick both options @ the device manager your drive properties. So if windows crashes your windows files won't get corrupted. I'm running a light OC on my system, CPU @ 4.4Ghz, CPU cache @ 3.9Ghz, Ram @ 2666Mhz and this are the results guy. I send you an Anvil Bench result for you to see if properly set some setting in bios it possible to bench this M.2 with (125) strap. Check your Windows it might be corrupted already. In my opinion get your self a hard driver with windows just for OCing, follow the habits that mention above and when satisfies with the OC then plug in your M.2 and retest. Those are my 2CENTS for the day, Good luck guy.
