PCIe_x4_1 question

I was planning on getting a USB2 card to bypass all this USB3 XHCI bs. The manual indicates that the x4_1 only shares resources with the x1_1, SATA express, and two of the USB3 ports. Can anyone confirm that my SLI cards will run in x16 mode if the PCIe_x4_1 is occupied?

Side note: It sure is a shame that a mobo with all these features and capabilities can be brought to it's knees by a legacy USB device that worked fine on an old i7-X58 platform.

Thanks,
David

Yes, I have a Creative SB Z sound card in that slot (Slot 3, PCIe 2.0 x4_1 slot, page 1-18 in the manual), and I can confirm my 2 graphics cards are running at x16.

Hello

PCIE_X4_1 is tied to the PCH so will have no effect on the PCIe 3.0 slots used for video. As far as legacy USB compatibility I'm sure Intel thought this through before making the changes that created this issue.
