Hello everyone, been a member for a while but been lurking in the background , well i built my rig last February, and have added a few parts since, Recently I added
2 Nvidia GTX 1080 founders edition cards. I did that today, I am upgrading from a single GTX 980, am hoping to see a big difference. So what I have in my Rig, lets start from the beginning. I bought all my parts from Newegg,
MoBo: ASUS Rampage V Extreme/U3.1
Intel I7 5930K 6 Core, should have come here when I built this to ask you all what your thoughts would have been on a CPU for me, I just game so might have done better than this ?
Case: Corsair Obsidian 750D,
PSU: Corsair 860i with Red Sleeved cables from Corsair,
Sandisk 240GB SSD from best buy, its nothing to write home about but way faster than a traditional Mechanical hard drive, I have Windows 10 64Bit on it and some games as well, D3, EQ1,EQ2,WoW, Rise of the Tomb Raider, will be adding a few more eventually. Where I bought 2 Nvidia GTX 1080's I get For Honor And ghost recon Free. I wasn't sure if I should Put Just my Operating system on that and get a different SSd for Storage, Games Etc.. but seems to be handing it fine, if anyone wants to give me some advice on this I am all ears. I want to Get a SamSung M.2 Evo's Not sure which one I should get , I know they get very good Ratings, they have a standard and a pro version, unsure which is better.
32 GBs of Corsair Dominator DDR 4 3200 , I also have 2 fan Coolers over my Ram with red LEDs ,corny? it looks cool or maybe not let me know what you guys think please.
2X Nvidia GTX 1080 $686.49 at BestBuy, they matched Amazons price, I didn't feel like waiting for the TI version and am sure it would carry a much Larger Price tag than that and really don't know how much of a difference it would of made?
This system is Air cooled , I can not wait to Water cool it and ask everyone for there input on it when I take the plunge in to that, still a ways away.
Over this past weekend I tried 2 different ASUS PG348Q's 1 had a build Date of August 2016 and the other Had a build date of December 2016, both had significant BLB ,so I sent them back today, waited over a year to finally take the plunge and buy 1 from Amazon and was Disappointed with the first one so I sent for a replacement and that was the same, For $1,200.00 I Expect a Premium Monitor , I will include 2 pictures of each of them. I don't know what to get now, I want a 34"Ultrawide , the PG348Q's were so Beautiful until you get a dark scene in a game or Movie and you have Lights coming off each Corner.....
Here are some Pictures of my system so far, I took these with an IPhone 5S so hope they look good
And this was both my PG348Q's , I took the pictures with no lights on like I have seen other people have done, #1#2
the pictures got turned somehow can someone please either turn them up right or let me know how please?
Anyways Let me know what you think of my Build so far, its a work in progress, I tried doing a really nice job with the cable management inside and also behind the back panal, I know no one will ever see it but I know its there and I am kind of a perfectionist . thanks for checking it out and if there is anything I could do better please let me know, thanks a lot .Last edited by mwe3302; 02-19-2017 at 12:48 AM.

My build
Hello all this is my build:
Pretty Plain stuff...
CPU - 6950X 125@ 35 - 4.375 GHz @ 1.3V
Mobo - Asus Rampage V Edition 10 - 1503 Bios (I have an MSI Godlike Carbon in reserve should the RVE crap out.)
Coolermaster Liquidpro 280
Ram - 64GB (4*16) HyperX DDR4-3000 (hence the 125 Strap)
Boot Drive - 960Pro 1TB NVME
GPU - EVGA 1080TI FE (step up form their 1080 Hybrid)
Phanteks Enthoo Pro M Acrylic Case (modding was done to ft the MOBO)
EVGA G3 1000W PSU
Additional drive - Sandisk Ultra 1TB
Additional drive - Samsung 830 256GB
Additional drive - 3TB HDD
So far that's it. I definitely have had some issues dialing this in and it seems like the XMP knocks my NVME down to Gen 2X4 instead of Gen 3 which is a substantial performance difference. I wonder if I'm the only one that had that issue/noticed it.

And I switch from Rampage V Extreme to Rampage V E10.
i'm proud to say I have board ASUS launched for 10th ROG Anniversary.
Special customers who no money to change platform so fast could search for such unique hardware.
I spent all of money on hardware.
For now only this picture but I have EKWB Monoblock and that mena only once... Watercooling.
Because custom tax I will import separate things, radiator + fittings/tubes, than pump/reservoir combo.
Later I will replace CPU from budget i7-5820K to some model who can deal in games with i9-7900X.
I loved both of my motherboards, Rampage V Extreme I will almost cry when buyers arrive.
I hope RVE10 will serve me as RVE. It's better board, no doubt, more new things, no useless SATA Express,
but have important U.2, USB 3.1 both A+C, premounted I/O shield.
Very important x4 PCI-E if not for 28 than for CPU with 40 PCI-E lanes.
Bad because ASUS didn't present ROG mATX X299. I have in head such insane project for Mini ITX or better mATX boards in SFX Case.
But both CPU and GPU need to be cooled with 280mm radiator and no place for racing OC just components to stay cool after normal OC.
Mini ITX X299 is sentenced to SO-DIMM and no Sound Card, and it's unknown difference between SO-DIMM and desktop memory,
mATX have desktop memory and place for sound card.
But for now I will stay on X99. i9-7900X is to expensive, different price would force more people to switch to X299.
Example i9-7900X to cost 500$. That would be reason to switch. Now one i7-6900K or OC i7-5960X on old motherboards outperform i7-7820X in games.
I can't explain how I was satisfied with Rampage V Extreme but RVE10 with Monoblock RGB is different class, something I wished from launch date.
I couldn't miss to switch because price of switch cost me one EKWB Monoblock RGB, rest of money will be full compensate after sell RVE.
X99 is strong platform, two generations of desktop processors and two generations of Intel Xeons V3 and V4, up to 18 and up to 22 cores.

CPU / Memory upgrade advice
Looking for some new year advice from knowledgeable folks on this thread. I recently moved and my NZXT (plastic/steel) case took a beating though everything worked like a charm when unpacked. I've been thinking about upgrading my Rampage V Extreme / U3.1 cpu from installed 5820 to a 6850 and the memory from 32gb 2666 to 32gb of 3000 or 3200 AND move into a more efficient case along the way. I bought this board because it offered opportunities for upgrading later but am not sure if the preceding is best strategy so looking for other perspectives. Second question, whether a faster cpu will call for new cpu cooling and whether it is advised to re install the OS too (currently running W10 64). Thanks for your time and consideration, dlw-Fnc

These Broadwell-E are almost impossible to find for nice price.
i7-5960X used cost as i7-7820X new... where is logic?
To be honest I could find cheaper i9-7900X new than used i7-6900K.
That's tragic because I have X99 board and nicest monoblock ever launched.
I suppose I will need to OC i7-5820K to 4.5GHz and wait better chance and little more time to pass for i7-6950X.
It's not only multi threaded almost twice faster than i7-5820K and overclocked same as AMD 1920X. His single threaded performance on 4.2GHz are as i7-5820K on 4.5GHz.
Memory speed and better IMC as well.
I didn't know I will be able to find i9-7900X new for 700euro, I would wait with board and both Apex.
I could sell X99 and I have enough for i9-7900X but board is full investment, and that's 500 euro. I can't buy 200$ worth board, minimum Rampage VI Apex.
But to be honest X99 is nicer to me somehow... I don't know, off course only need better model than budget variant of CPU.
