I also have a new install of windows 8.1 so no programs or custom settings just the defaults, are the upper settings usable for the G751JT model ?
Raffafari, I haven't used/adjusted the IPS screen on the G751, but on the G750 the AUO screen is way to bright to watch at 100%. I run mine at about 65-70% most of the time. Outdoors is a different environment, and I run at 100% there.

You could try turning down the brightness to 50%, and live with it for a while to acclimate - then move it up 5% at a time until it is bright enough, but not too bright.

The AUO screen was getting these complaints too, until people started turning down the brightness

I let my JT as it was from factory, I tried some of the presets and it just looked off. I didn't really try messing around with settings because I had already gotten used to the colors and anything else would just look off lol.

XOIIO, that's the sad part, that is why early on with ROG laptops I recommend getting rid of Splendid immediately - before you got used to the over-saturated colors - and the same goes for the G751, and all laptops with Splendid. Uninstall it before you get used to it. Otherwise color corrected screens won't look good to you.

I went through this too, first with my G2S. I had to run with no correction for a couple of weeks, and then applied an ICC profile, and it looked good again

It's worth it to re-correct your vision away from the saturated colors, as you won't have an "eye" for color without the reset.

It isn't that tough, but you will consider re-installing Splendid a number of times in the first couple of days

    Good luck!

Thank you for the reply hmscott, I was thinking it could be something wrong with my settings but your advice sounds right I tend to use it at 90/100% at my desk.

Raffafari, it's subtle, given all the screens we look at you would think we would have noticed right away, but it took a while from the G750JH release date to realize what was going on.

    Retina Searing Brightness!

That's what we named it, reduced to 50%, ran for a while that way to let our eye's heal, then increased to about 65%-70% in a well lit room indoors, 30-40% indoors in the dark - movie watching illumination, and that seems long term liveable.

Please post what level you find good for the G751 IPS screen

also check sites like notebookcheck, they tend to give an icc file as well whenever they test a notebook not sure if thats fully calibrated then, i downloaded a few for my g750jz as well, but in the end i use the supplied one by asus splendid (without using splendid itself ofc)

    http://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-G7....133178.0.html

that 1 has an icc file there

    Hey everyone, quick update.

So it turns out, Splendid isn't a bad tool after all. About a week ago, I decided to redownload it, because I always found myself in the nvidia control panel tweeking the color settings. I was never fully satisfied with my Nvidia settings, because on some web pages/images, I could see small tints of blue in what was supposed to be gray, or small tints of red if my nvidia settings were on the warmer side.

So, I started up splendid and the default color setting was either vivid or normal. Those were not cutting it for me because it made the screen too red/warm; everything had a reddish tint to it, which looked horrible. So I changed the profile to Manual and then dragged the color temperature slider all the way to the right (max 50 value), and that did it for me. Everything looked awesome after that, in my opinion. Black were truly black, grays were gray without any tint of red/blue/green to them, and every other color was accurate.

But wait, there's one more thing. So, if you do like this setting, there's a problem you're going to run into: whenever you restart your laptop, it will reset the calibration from splendid and it will revert back to the windows default color profile and you would have to reopen splendid to get your settings back.

    Here's how you fix this:
    1. Go to the start screen and search "Color Management" and open it; if you have Classic Shell like I do, click start and type in "Color Management" and open it
    2. Click on the "Advanced" tab and select "Change system defaults". This will open up the "Color Management - System Defaults" dialog window.
    3. Once the window is open, click on the "Advanced" tab.
    4. At the very bottom of that screen, there is a check box that says "Use Windows display calibration". If that is checked, uncheck it. You can now close the window after that. You will now see that option (which you couldn't change before in the first window) unchecked as well.
    5. Restart your laptop, and the settings from Splendid should kick in and stick. If it still looks like the default windows profile, reopen splendid, and click on Manual, and it should load the settings, and the next time you restart, those settings will remain.

hmm, well I uninstalled it, and honestly I can't really see a difference. One I watch a tv show I've watched before maybe I will but I do adjust to schemes quickly considering how many monitors I have and the amount of computers I work with. If it did change it's very subtle, or the setting I had it on before was basically off though I'm sure it was on normal.

XOIIO, did you reboot after uninstall?

You can use the ICC profile from the Splendid installer package, they are in the Color Table folder, use the Windows Color Calibration to install and set as default. Then you have the color correction without the additional Splendid filters.

Whenever I have uninstalled Splendid it is very obvious it is gone, even when it was set on Normal.
