I just recently installed 12gb of Ballistic Tracer 1600MGz RAM on the my R3E. I am having a little issue with it though. When I installed it The top lights are very dim and are not tracing at all. As far as my Bios are concerned I have version 8.x installed as I was having issues with version 10.x. Unfortunately I am not very versed in Bios tweeting so I am not sure if there is something that I really need to adjust there or if it might be an issues with something else all together.

My system:
R3E
i7-920
ASUS 460 OC version
12gb Ballistic Tracer 1600MGz

do the tracers support xmp? you can try to put the memory mode to xmp and see if that will help. have you tried using a single dimm?

Hello Brian I thought this might be the best place to post this question.

I have tried a single dimm. Actually I have tried ever dimm I have in every dimm slot. I will give the XMP mode a try today to see if that will help. Thank you for responding Brian.
