I would recommend this build (same but Sapphire R9 290X 8G): http://pcpartpicker.com/p/WGK6xr
Yes yes yes, I love ASUS, but Sapphire is the leader in AMD cards, and 4K is better on the R9 290X compared to the 980 and especially 970.

Pff small company. We sell more AMD boards. 😉 Although I'll admit we don't have an 8G model on the 290X.

i do already have 7-8 xfx r9 290s so i would just use those ans save some bucks. people on reddit are saying that the nvdia card would be much better

Whoever says Nvidia cards are better MUST be biased.

That's a very nice system. The Rampage V Extreme is an amazing motherboard and you couldn't have chosen a better motherboard for your 5960X. I have one of those GTX 980 Matrix here as well. It's fast, silent and overclocks like a beast.

Not sure if you picked the Corsair Platinums for their looks but the G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 series 64GB (8 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2800 (PC4-22400) Intel X99 Desktop M... kit is almost $600 cheaper. Performance wise, the G.Skill is faster as well. Can't really beat that.

Damn thanks. I want to know how am i suppose to hook all the corsair link stuff up. also in my current build with the maximus vii formula i had to get a couple of ncix internal usb expanders as that board only has one.

what do most people use the 2nd usb 3.0 plug for?
