Fan control and bios question

I am looking at building a new tower. Going to be running a R5E. My question is for the chassis fans what is the most common set up people use. 1) Connect to chassis fan header on moboard, 2) use corsair link and the mini commander, 3) Run Aisuite but heard a lot say not to use it or 4) run them off a front bay fan controller. I have 2) 140 in front, 120 exhaust and a h100i up top. Next question is run the bios that comes with the board for the time being or should I update it to the latest? Thanks for the help

I am using a fan controller for all my case fans:

Works quite well. Your H100i probably will have fans that plug into the pump itself and vary in rotational speed based on temp. I never had any success with the corsair link software. If you use it, good luck. I simply follow the temps and fan speeds with my fan controllers or the AISuite. Once you set the speeds on the controller I doubt you will look at it again, but that's just personal preference.

If you want USB 3.1 functionality, the latest bios will be needed.

Hope this helps. Others may have different opinions here.

Yea. Most people don't recommend running multiple fans off the MB.

It's a matter of preference. All the mentioned method will work fine. Regarding the BIOS, use the one that your system is most stable with.

I use the motherboard headers and powered fan splitters with PWM fans. It works great. I had too many problems with the Corsair Link. in my previous build. It never really worked as it should have despite several RMAs
5930K @4.5
ASUS Rampage 5 Extreme X99
16 Gbs Corsair Dominator 2666Mhz RAM
Two, EVGA Nvidia Titan X's in SLI
Samsung XP941 M2 512 Gb M2 boot drive
EVGA SuperNOVA P1200 PSU
Case Labs Merlin Full Tower
NZXT Kraken X61 AiO CPU cooler with four 140mm Noctura Industrial fans
Overlord Tempest O27X Monitor @ 118 Hz

Thanks for the replies. I will use the lamptron controller in the new build. I have had my share of corsair link issues. Running a 450d case with 2) corsair Af140 in front 1) af120 high performance in rear and 2 sp120 on the h100i. What are the general settings for rpms on these different fan locations or is it just preference. I have usually run them all at around 1200rpm.

Play with the different speeds. Try to find the balance between performance and silence.

It's just perference. I just looked at the specs on the fan itself and run it 100-200RPM below the max as long as it is not too loud.
