Fitting a different screen to Gl551

ok, the Tn panel and Matte finish is not to my liking on what is otherwise a fine notebook.

I have searched online but to no avail on alternative panels for this model. I was wondering if the fitment s the same as the y50 Lenovo and if those alternatives are valid for this model. Another possibility was the 3k panel used in the MSI Gs60 3k.

Has anyone replaced or upgraded their laptop to an ips screen and if so could you share some info?

Have you opened up the top and gotten the actual number off the panel? You should be able to find a compatible one with that and also get a look at the connector to make sure you get the right one before you order.
