Which GTX 980 card should I go for?

Hello there ROG Forum.
I'm soon going to buy a GTX 980. However, I have no idea which one I should choose.

I've been thinking about these cards: EVGA GTX 980 SC, ASUS STRIX GTX 980 and MSI GTX 980.

I don't want the Gigabyte version because last time I used a Gigabyte G1 GTX 970 I had problems with their "Flex Display". Every time I had a second or third screen connected it switched BIOS (because of its dual BIOS function). This resulted in black screen and Windows automaticly reinstalling Nvidia driver. I could see it switched BIOS in GPU-Z, so I know that was the cause.

I got a 550W PSU (Cooler Master V550S 80 Plus Gold), since my build originally had this Gigabyte G1 GTX 970 in it. However I guess my 550W PSU should be enough for a 980 as well?

Thanks in advance 🙂

EDIT: There is also Gainward and Zotac in the cheaper end. However, I don't know much about those cards.

The ASUS Strix GTX 980 would be my choice. It's fast, silent and has good overclocking potential.

I might choose the Strix. However, I can't seem to find the minimum PSU requirements for it?

I guess it would be around 500W. However, some manufacturers (Gigabyte) recommends 600W? I just want to be sure that my 550W PSU can handle it 🙂

get the Strix980. I just got mine and it is a nice card. Im starting to overclock or learning to lol. Fast card and stable. Im up to 1420 on the clock as of now and 7950 on memory. It comes with an adapter for 2) 6 pin pcie to one 8 pin and you connect a 3rd 6 pin to the other slot if you dont have 1) 8 pin and 1) 6 pin pcie connector on the psu

If you want to go all out you could get the GTX Titan X , it blows the 980 away. What would determine if you need it is if you game at 4k.

You'd need at least a 600w psu for the Titan X.

I could do that. However, I'll have to change my 3 months old PSU then.
I guess I'll just stick with a 980 🙂

I plan to buy the GTX 980 next weekend or somewhere next week. I still believe I'll go for the Strix as this is the most recommended it seems.
