    DRAM Skew Tuning

I have a DRAM tuning situation that I think could be helped by skew adjustment. Secondly, I'd like to investigate the relation between skew and RTL. The equipment in question is the testbench rig in my signature. BIOS on the M6F is 1505.

A page of skew settings is not mentioned at all in the M6F users guide nor in the very helpful tweaking guide.

perhaps it has been added to BIOS since those were published. Here is a screen shot.

As you can see, the description on the right side of the BIOS page is not fully helpful.
Specific questions for each setting are:

    The range of effective values?
Units? ie. nanoseconds, DRAM clocks, IMC clocks

I know what rising and falling slopes are, but "control time" appears to be a particular jargon I don't have reference for. A definition here would help a lot.

    Thanks in advance

    Jeff

These settings are a bit cryptic on purpose.

    There is some info here:

Thank you, Raja, for what you could say. What you posted and the follow-on link give starting point values for those settings and at least one method for proceeding. That gives a partial answer to one of the questions. Now I'm off to give the skew settings a try.

I have to express disappointment at ASUS policy of lacking documentation and cryptic help like this. "Do it like this because I said so" is not the sort of information an engineer wants in order to use a tool effectively. The worst being those settings where help merely regurgitates the title.

Have to keep the stuff we spend 1000s of hours of R&D under wraps. Sorry - that's just the way it is.

And just to put your mind at "some ease" - even if we told you exactly what they do, you'd still have to use the same method of tuning the values and it takes just as long. What they relate to does not help one understand how to tune them at all in this case.
