I have not had a chance to overclock a laptop before but have done my share on my desktop rig (2x 780ti SLI). It is very important to do small jumps, watch the temperature difference from heavy gameplay of at least 45 min, and to watch of for blue screens. Generally you can push the RAM much farther than the core. If you can keep the temp in a good place 300/500 might be ok. Personally, I would start at half that and do 45 min, then add more in 50 increments. If you blue screen or it gets to hot, turn it down. Also, look up the Max operating temp for your GPU and make sure it stays a few degrees lower than that.

On a side note, you may not receive the same results as other people. someone running the exact same build that you are might be able to do 300/500 but you might only be able to pull 100/200. Every chip is going to get something slightly different due to processing errors and normal manufacturing variations. This is why its safer to test what your computer can do for you, and not just try to do what someone else can pull

Apparently - This is the SOURCE FOR THE MODDED vBIOS for G751JT/Y: Prema MOD

IMPORTANT NOTE: In Prema's site there is a WARNING:
    WARNING:
THE RECENT VERSIONS OF EVGA PRECISION X (THROUGH NVIDIA DRIVER) ARE BRICKING THE LCD SCREENS EDID!
REMOVE IT FROM YOUR SYSTEMS UNTIL THEY CAN FIX THE BUG!
For those who doesn't know that "EVGA PRECISION X" - look here - BUT AS THE WARNING SAYS - DO NOT INSTALL IT !!!!

I OC my g751jt core/memory +450, temp is not higher than 82 degrees in witcher 3(maxed out 35-55 fps),in battlefield 4 never more than 78 defreeswith stable 60 fps(v-sync on),I got 8697 points in firestrike, by the way the Max temp for gtx970m is 95 degrees. But the power from adapter is not enough and battery discharging while playing demanding games.

I don't believe that gtx970m can run stable with core more than 1488 MHz, i've tried to do it, even run firestrike, but in games it always crash, maximum is +450MHz,and I drilled holes under the coolers, only after that I've got temperature not exceeding 84 degrees.Maybe this information will be usefull.

    And sorry for my english.

    Sorry for necro post but:

Is this, in fact, a safe and reasonable thing to do? Or is it just asking for overheating, unreliable voltages, and/or battery failure?

Don't just flash random G751JT Vbios - you MUST know if your laptop support G-sync or NOT.... the VBIOS is DIFFERENT for each case !!!
