dosa, all the new Alienware laptops are non-upgradeable... just like Asus. These "upgrade" cards are for discontinued laptops - Alienware doesn't make upgradeable laptops any longer.

No, you can't upgrade the CPU or GPU in an Asus G750/G751.

The motherboard has all the CPU/GPU parts on it now, there is no MXM daughter card - the G750 has a non-standard MXM card and Asus doesn't issue BIOS/vBIOS updates to allow you to swap in new MXM cards - even if they fit - into an old laptop.

Here is a naked G751JY motherboard, you can see the CPU and GPU/VRAM chips soldered directly on the motherboard.

The G751 970 can be overclocked safely to higher performance levels, almost to 980m range, but of course so can the 980m be OC'd to higher performance.

If you want the 980m, sell your JT and buy a JY

Alienware has as many problems, seems like more to me, as Asus. Things don't work, overheating, display problems, drivers, firmware, order support, quality control problems, etc.

Same for Clevo/Sager/HP/etc, check their forums.

    They all have problems.

If you want an upgradeable computer, get a desktop too, but even so those get outdated, and upgrades either aren't available or only supported on new motherboards.
