I have been having issues with my north bridge overheating. I have changed out the block to the block with the fan. I have even changed out the fan to a 7000rpm fan. The north bridge is fine when I'm not gaming, but once I start gaming I have to turn up the fan all the way. Can anybody give me any advice on this issue? I have contacted Danger Den about the water block they are getting ready to release, but they are saying it will come out some time around October 15th.

It just hurts that I will have put out some extra money to run my system that should not be having these issues.

Ek makes a block also! That is what I am using and not a problem so far!

I have been looking at EK. The reason for looking at DD is because they are a local company. If the price on their block is to high for me I will go with a EK block. It is just going to look funny because I might only have the board on the loop.

u can run nb/sb block and cpu on same loop with a 240 rad and you'll be fine or for better temps try a 360 rad. i am speaking from experience thats how i was running mine till i added 3x 480 and another 360 rad and another mcp655 pump- one loop

I just priced everything out again and I'm looking at around $450. Sad thing is I traded off all of my water cooling stuff a few months ago for a 3D monitor. I wish I had that gear back.

Well I don't know where u live or if your interested but I have a xspc passive cooler and 120 rad that I'm not useing if your interested pm me and that will save u some money for now. Also the passive is really tall FYI.

After doing a bit of research on the net I have been able to figure out that ASUS uses some sort of yellow wax under the north and south bridge. Some people are recommending that this wax be removed and thermal paste be used instead. In most of the post I have read this has solved all issues with over heating.

That would explain why mine never had issues because I only started my re3 with stock block once then replaced with water block....lol

You mention overheating? what is your reference for that?
Also, are you experiencing anything when you put system on load?
I've been running folding@home on the R3E non-stop for months and it's fine.

GIjoe, your northbridge shouldnt be overheating. is your system crashing because of the heat?
