Anyone dual booting a G73jh with Ubuntu (or other distro?)

I am wondering because I have been booting up a Kubuntu 14.04 LTS with a 32 GB USB stick with persistent memory included. So when I boot up into Kubuntu, everything functions great etc.

But when I reboot back into Windows 7 Pro, I get a random freeze which requires a forced shutdown. The device manager looks ok, and the event viewer doesn't show anything suspicious.

But if I turn the notebook completely off, and unplug for a while (an hour or more) then, everything is good in Windows again, no more random freeze.

It's almost as if something lurks in memory from the Kubuntu run, or something else in the hardware is in some sort of "Linux" state while Windows is running. Anyone know if that's possible?

Then I thought, if someone actually installed Kubuntu (or whatever distro) it would not show up either. (I wonder if the USB port is retaining something??)

Any comments appreciated.
