G751 Fn+Enter button not bringing up calculator
Hey all,
Please excuse the mega newb question (I'm not a newb ;-) but for the sake of me I can't figure out why my fn+enter command doesn't bring up the calculator in windows 8.1. I haven't tried a different OS. Yes, my drivers are installed. From what I read, key mapping to something else isn't an option, however I just want the calculator shortcut to work. Thought that was a sweet function. Help much appreciated.
Rig is a Asus G751

Homerjsimpso, I keep a calculator on the taskbar, quick click - no keyboard taps needed.
But, if you want it back, you need to uninstall the Metro Calculator and Fn+Enter is supposed to work again, not tried it myself, let us know if it works for you.

Tried their solution just now. Uninstalled metro calculator, but still doesn't work. Small loading circle next to my pointer for a fraction of a second and then nothing.
Suggetsions?

Homerjsimpso, I just made another posting here, try it and see if it works;
Fn+Enter Calculator hotkeys Opening non-Desktop Version [solved]

Here it is again, cross posting between G750 and g751 forum:
Guys, uninstalling the Metro app works for most people, but if that doesn't work, you can edit / create a registry entry, and that works for others.
There are lots of posts about this fix, and from this thread you need to put together a few posts to get the answer, so I have summarized the steps below.
Change functionality of the calculator button Win8.1
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...a-67395fc9c398
a. Press Windows + R keys, type regedit in run window and press Enter.
b. Go to the registry location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\AppKey\18
- if you already have an entry, I had calc.exe, enter in the full path C:\Windows\system32\calc.exe
- otherwise create the entry:
c. Right click in right pane and select new and then select string value.
d. In the name field, type "ShellExecute" without quotes.
e. Right click on this string value and click modify.
f. In value data box, type C:\Windows\system32\calc.exe and click ok.
g. Close registry editor and restart the computer.
BTW, I don't use the Fn+Enter shortcut myself because I don't use the built-in keyboard, and find it just as quick to click on the Calculator icon that I pinned to the Taskbar .
Please let us know if this works for you
