I have just purchased a G751JY and have tried to run the Asus Backtracker to create a copy of the recovery image on a USB flash drive.
The process starts fine, creates boot sector, creates image but just before the end I get the error…
“Failed to create the factory default backup.
Failed to read or access the USB storage device. The backup image creation process stopped. Please ensure the following:
*Your ASUS Notebook PC is connected to a power source.
*Your USB storage device is working properly.”
I have used two flash drives a 16GB SanDisk Extreme 3.0 and a 32GB SanDisk Extreme 3.0. Both get the same error.
The laptop is connected to a power source the whole time.
How can I resolve this problem and not get the error message?
Thanks in advance 🙂

Hi, I have experienced the same error you were getting the backtracker (v3.0.8). I tired multiple usb with the same error.
Not sure if its a problem with my usb ports on my laptop but they seem to encounter no issues when copying large amounts of data.
I ended up contacting asus support and said "we also received some problems and fails when use ASUS backtracker from other customers. Our development team is working on it to make it better"
so not sure if this is related to the usb port issues or a problem with the program itself.
They also suggested I try another method http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media and this one worked with same usb that was failing using the backtracker.
Not sure if that helps much.
