DDR4 memory capacity support

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to build a new system based on the i7-5960X (for rendering purposes) and I'd like to buy the following motherboard:
http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/X99DELUXEU31/overview/

The X99 DELUXE/U3.1.
Under the specs I could see max RAM supported is 64GB DDR4.
I know there are 16GB non-ECC DDR4 modules coming to the market (Corsair and Crucial already have 128GB kits) so I was wondering:

Will the board get a BIOS update to support 16GB DIMMs or will it limit max RAM to 64GB?

There are other motherboard manufacturers, like MSI, that state 128GB RAM support on their site:
http://www.msi.com/product/mb/X99S-GAMING-9-ACK.html#hero-specification

I found this post on the ROG forums:
http://rog.asus.com/340082014/rampage-motherboards/max-your-mem-128gb-ddr3-support-on-rampage-iv-bla...
It seems ASUS put out new BIOS versions with updated microcode in order for the specified boards to support 16GB DIMMs. Will this happen with the X99 DELUXE/U3.1 and other newer boards too?

The G.Skill 128GB kit was validated on the Rampage V Extreme. I would expect the X99 Deluxe to have the same support for 128GB kits.

Hello

The X99 Deluxe supports 128GB memory kits.

Thank you everyone for replying to this thread.

Chino, that would be amazing as I've investigated the Intelligent Memory portfolio and they really seem to have 16GB non-ECC DDR3 RAM available, which makes it quite obvious they'll eventually release DDR4 16GB DIMMs.

Praz, I did check the ASUS website and I couldn't find anything suggesting 128GB of RAM support for the motherboard. Do you have info from other places the motherboard supports 16GB DIMMs and thus 128GB of DDR4?
