I installed my new Strix GTX 970 a couple of days ago and I played Borderlands 2 yesterday for a few hours.
My display settings were set to the highest and I used 8X MSAA without problems. I set my viewing distance setting to 100 instead of the old value that it had about 90 or so.
The latest WHQL drivers are 353.30 so if you aren't on those try updating and see if they work better.
